Who We Are

Bells Corners has long been a hub for both commerce and community — dating back to the 1800s, when it served as a key stop between Bytown and Richmond. While the area has grown and changed over time, it remains rooted in its identity as a welcoming, resilient neighbourhood.

The Bells Corners Business Improvement Area (BCBIA) is a local board of the City of Ottawa, established to support commercial property owners and business tenants in the area. We work to strengthen the business environment, promote economic growth, and attract more people to shop, work, and invest in Bells Corners.

Known as the Village in the Greenbelt, Bells Corners is more than just a place to do business — it’s a vibrant, connected community with strong local ties, welcoming neighbourhoods, and easy access to nature. With a growing mix of shops, services, and amenities, it’s a place to live, work, explore, and feel at home.

FAQ - Who's a member?

​​If you own or lease a commercial property within the BCBIA boundaries, you’re automatically a member. Member businesses contribute through a special levy, which helps fund events, beautification projects, and promotions that support the entire area. Home-based businesses and those outside the boundary are not members, but are always welcome to get involved in public events.

About Our Community

Our mission is to champion the business success of our members by promoting Bells Corners as a vibrant and healthy commercial, retail, residential and entertainment district, and attracting more people to live, shop, work, and gather.

The word “member,” in the daily business of the Bells Corners BIA, means people – a dedicated team of business owners. Much of our mandate is realized through our dedicated eight member board of management, comprised of members who volunteer their time and expertise.

Our Board is united under a common vision: to ensure that the Bells Corners community grows, prospers and succeeds as a vibrant, positive area.
