Lucas Haneman Express @ Zolas
If Lucas Haneman’s musicianship could be summed up in two words, expressive and soulful are the first that come to mind. The LH Express is a fresh funky band with a sound drenched in poignant lyrics, blistering band interplay and gripping guitar solos. A musician widely regarded for his distinctive guitar work, Haneman has developed a one of a kind blues sound full of fire and constant musical curiosity. His vocal talents, writing ability, and melodic sense are the icing on the cake, that grab the listener, and keep them on their toes. Along with Valeriy Nehovora (drums), Martin Newman (bass/vocals), and Megan Laurence (vocals) he has found his true means of self-expression.
LHE have released 3 full-length albums to date including their debut CD “Welcome Aboard” (in April 2015), their critically acclaimed sophomore album “Tearing Up the Rails” (in December 2016), and “Catch The Westbound (in April 2019). They are currently working on their fourth studio album. They released the first single from it on October 4th, 2022 called “Hot Minute”.
“Catch The Westbound” their third album, shows a deep, all be it unique connection to the blues tradition, with gritty passionate material mixed by legendary producer Brian Moncarz from Toronto (Alice Cooper/Our Lady Peace/The Tea Party). “Catch The Westbound” achieved universally positive attention from both fans and music critics from around the world. The album received a great deal of airplay and had numerous appearances on the “top 50 Canada Album Chart Roots Music Report” throughout 2019, cracking the top 5 shortly after its release. The Express also won a 2020 Sapphire Music Video Award at The Maple Blues Awards for their music video “Ms. McGrim”.
